Waiting mode…

Big plans for this week? Same.

  • Finish your work

  • Meal prep like a pro

  • Be the productive turkey-loving human you aspire to be...

And yet, here you are, stuck in waiting mode.

Fun fact: Waiting mode isn’t just procrastination. For ADHDers, it’s a state of existence.

Why does it happen?

  1. Task Paralysis: The brain’s like, “Why start something else when the Big Thing is looming?”

  2. Time Blindness: Days feel like a blur of not now but not yet.

  3. Hyperfocus on the Future: Mentally rehearsing Thanksgiving tasks and schedule over and over…

  4. Low Dopamine: The waiting feels meh, so nothing else feels motivating either.

Can it last days? Oh, bish, it can last weeks.

Here’s how to shake it off (or at least shake it up):

  • Pick a micro-task. One dish, one email, one sentence. Tiny wins = momentum.

  • Schedule short dopamine boosts: Dance to Wicked, doodle a turkey, sprint to the fridge (for snacks, obviously).

  • Reframe it: You’re not “stuck.” You’ve got free space to do something small before Thanksgiving chaos hits.

PS: If you’re still in your pajamas waiting for the week to be over, you’re not alone. Waiting mode is a mood. Let’s ride it out with some pie and zero guilt.
