When Life Happens: Choosing Meaning Over Automatic Overthinking

Not everything that happens needs to mean something…or mean something ABOUT you.

I have always found it easier to think that way. It has been almost automatic. Every mistake, every curveball, every hard moment felt like it was aimed at me or said something about who I am. That’s ADHD & OCD for ya.

Alan Watts talks about the difference between “something happened” and “something happened to you”.

When you take out the “to me,” it becomes neutral.

“This happened.” That is it.

No overthinking, no blame, just raw data.

For women with ADHD, I know this can feel unnatural.

We feel everything so deeply and look for meaning in all of it.

But here is the thing…it is ALL neutral until we decide what it means.

The power is not in the event.

It is in what we choose to make of it.

“This happened.” Now, what do you want to do with it?

Life is not out to get you. It is just happening, and you get to decide what to carry and how to move forward.
